The Tecate Port of Entry is a fraction of the size of San Ysidro or Otay Mesa, which means wait times are typically much shorter—often just minutes. It’s the preferred crossing for road trippers heading east into Baja’s wine country, and it’s a scenic drive from San Diego through the mountains on Highway 94 or Highway 188.
Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico’s premier wine region, is less than an hour’s drive south from the Tecate crossing. The area is home to over 100 wineries, world-class restaurants, and boutique hotels. From San Diego: Take Highway 94 east through Jamul and Dulzura, then connect to Highway 188 south into Tecate. The drive takes approximately one hour from downtown San Diego. Our office at 433 Tecate Road is one block before the border crossing on the right side.
From I-8 eastbound: Take the Buckman Springs Road exit, head south to Highway 94, then follow 94 west to Highway 188 south into Tecate.
